Fishing Report for Saturday, July 19, 2008

smallmouth bass and muskies

The walleye bite continues to be a bit sluggish. The pike are biting some in the shoreline weeds.

Muskies are starting to show themselves to determined anglers. Many of the "musky nuts" are reporting seeing more fish the past few days. Weedlines and shallow reeftops have been the best in the Garrison area. The north sand has also been good.

The smallmouth bass may be as active as ever! They are definitely the talk of the lake right now. Anglers are seeing many fish in the 17 to 19 inch range, and some bigger!!  Huge bass by anyones standards. The Garrison Reef holds many bass, but look to shoreline oriented rocks and points to find the really big numbers. Pike point and the Myr Mar area have been phenomenal!!

As always, check with local resorts and bait shops for up to the minute reports and advice.
